Madhya Pradeshs Cotton Farmers to Access Global Market: CM Dr. Mohan Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that Madhya Pradesh is one of the leading states in organic cotton production in India. The state contributes approximately 40% of the country's total organic cotton output. With the foundation stone of the first PM MITRA Park to be laid in Dhar district by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Madhya Pradesh is set to become the Cotton Capital of India.

Cotton farmers will now have direct access to international markets. PM MITRA Park will be a milestone, bringing global recognition to the hard work of farmers. Dr. Yadav described it as a foundation for the state's industrial future and a gateway to new opportunities for farmers. Thanks to Prime Minister Modi’s visionary leadership, farmers’ produce will now reach global markets directly from the fields, and Madhya Pradesh’s cotton-producing region will play a crucial role in this transformation.

New avenues of prosperity for cotton farmers

According to CM Dr. Yadav, the PM MITRA Park is an industrial project that will transform the lives of farmers, workers, women, and youth. Cotton growers will now be directly connected to cotton-based industries, turning cotton from just a crop into Madhya Pradesh’s industrial identity.

Madhya Pradesh is among the top cotton-producing states in the country. The Malwa region—including Indore, Dhar, Jhabua, Alirajpur, Khargone, Barwani, Khandwa, and Burhanpur—has the highest cotton production. The last three years have shown favorable trends: Cotton production in 2022–23: was 8.78 lakh metric tons, and in 2023–24 it was 6.30 lakh metric tons and in 2024–25: 5.60 lakh metric tons. Apart from these, other districts also produce good cotton yields. Madhya Pradesh has already earned a reputation for organic cotton production, making it a highly suitable state for the textile industry. This is why Dhar was selected as the site for the PM MITRA Park.

PM MITRA Park to Offer World-Class Facilities

Spread over approximately 2,158 acres, the park is being developed with world-class infrastructure, including: A 20 MLD Common Effluent Treatment Plant, A 10 MVA Solar Power Plant, Assured supply of water and electricity, Modern roads and 81 plug-and-play units.

Facilities like housing and social infrastructure for workers and female employees will make it not just an industrial area but an ideal industrial township.

Investors Show interest

Investors have shown strong trust in the PM MITRA Park, with investment proposals totaling ₹27,109 crore received so far. This will pave the way for the establishment of industries and new employment opportunities for locals. Major textile organizations and industry groups have expressed interest in investing here. This will benefit the state industrially and boost exports.

Textiles and garments produced in Dhar will soon reach global markets directly. Madhya Pradesh is rapidly emerging as a textile hub.

Park Theme Aligned with PM Modi’s Vision

In line with Prime Minister Modi’s vision, the park will establish a complete value chain:“From Farm to Fiber, Factory to Fashion, and Fashion to Foreign.”

Raw cotton from farmers will be turned into yarn, then textiles and garments, and finally exported. The entire value chain will be consolidated at a single location, making the park unique and a model for others.

Employment and Economic Growth

The PM MITRA Park is expected to generate around 3 lakh jobs, including: 1 lakh direct jobs and 2 lakh indirect jobs. With the expansion of cotton-based industries, farmers will get double the value for their crops. This opportunity will not only create employment but also boost economic activity in rural areas, stimulating everything from local markets to exports.
