Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that the State Government is undertaking several innovations for the welfare of farmers. The year 2026 is being observed as ‘Krishak Kalyan Varsh’. Bringing together 17 departments, including Animal Husbandry, Horticulture, Cooperation, Agriculture and Industry, the government has prepared a comprehensive plan for farmers’ prosperity, covering the entire value chain from ‘Farm to Market’.
For the first time, an Agriculture Cabinet meeting will be held in the tribal region of Barwani on March 2, where farmers will be gifted a special Holi bonanza. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that during this dedicated year for farmers’ prosperity, all initiatives and innovations aimed at making farmers self-reliant will be encouraged. After a courtesy meeting with Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah in New Delhi on Saturday, the Chief Minister made these remarks.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav informed Shri Shah about various events organised by the State Government based on the life of Samrat Vikramaditya, regarded among the greatest rulers in world history. He also stated that Bhopal witnessed a devastating gas tragedy 40 years ago, in which over 25,000 people lost their lives. Last year, the State Government successfully disposed of the hazardous waste stored at the Union Carbide factory site. He sought guidance from Union Minister Shri Shah regarding the development of a grand memorial on the vacant land of the former factory. A comprehensive plan has been prepared to develop 87 acres of land into the Bhopal Gas Tragedy Memorial, a Science Park, a Convention Centre, a modern laboratory dedicated to national security and a national research centre focused on development.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, Madhya Pradesh has become free from Naxalite operations. He termed it a notable achievement that Madhya Pradesh is the first State to bid ‘Lal Salam ko Akhiri Salam’, finally. Strong action has been taken against all forms of Naxal activities. Balaghat district had long suffered from Naxalism, and guidance has been sought from Shri Shah to organise the Baiga Mahotsav there for the region’s holistic development.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, referring to healthcare initiatives, said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, significant strides are being made in the health sector. The nationwide vaccination campaign for the prevention of cervical cancer has been launched, under which more than 8 lakh girls in the State will receive free vaccination. This campaign will prove to be a boon for girls aged 14 to 15 years in Madhya Pradesh. He emphasised that the State Government stands firmly with farmers during difficult times. Assistance is being provided after surveys to compensate for crop losses caused by natural disasters. Madhya Pradesh is the country’s food basket, with strong productivity in Rabi, Kharif, and summer crops. The State is a leading producer of pulses and ranks second in wheat production nationwide. Urad, lentil, and pigeon pea are produced in significant quantities. Madhya Pradesh also ranks first in oilseed production, with the highest output of soybean and groundnut. The State is at the forefront in natural farming and horticulture as well. The government is advancing in food processing to enhance farmers’ prosperity and is undertaking significant initiatives to promote organic farming.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav further stated that the State Government is celebrating the traditional tribal festival Bhagoria as a State festival. He informed that he attended the Bhagoria festival in Udaygarh, Alirajpur district, on Friday and paid tribute at the birthplace of Amar Shaheed Chandrashekhar Azad in Bhabhra on his martyrdom day. He also mentioned that he met National President Shri Nitin Nabin on Saturday and apprised him of various public welfare schemes being implemented in the State, and invited him to visit Ujjain for the darshan of Baba Mahakal.
